FIBCs for use in hazardous environments
Conductive (anti-static) FIBCs are used when transporting flammable powders or when flammable vapors, gases or combustible dusts are present. In these circumstances there is a risk of electrostatic discharge causing explosions during the filling and discharging process.
There are two types of conductive bulk bag to choose from:
Type C
A.K.A ‘ground-able’ FIBCs, these bags are made from non-conductive polypropylene fabrics interwoven with conducting threads sewn into the fabric. These threads are connected to a panel on the front of the bag which in turn must be connected manually to a designated ground/earth during filling and discharging.
Type D
Type D FIBCs are made from special antistatic and static dissipative fabrics. With type D conductive bags any electrical charge is dissipated safely into the environment via the corona-effect. There is no need for a connection from the FIBC to a designated ground/earth.
Integral can supply type C and type D conductive bulk bags. To find out which type would be the most suitable and to get a competitive quotation, contact us today!
